Join Our Candy Give-Back

After Halloween, consider joining our Candy Give-Back program and donating your leftovers!  When you donate, we’ll ship your candy to Operation Gratitude, and they’ll use it to make care packages for veterans, troops and first responders.  It’s a great way to say thank you to those who serve and protect us.

Operation Gratitude

Comprehensive and Cosmetic Dental Studio of Greenville will collect your unused Halloween candy on these dates: Saturday, November 2, Monday, November 4 and Tuesday, November 5.  Your donations will be sent to Operation Gratitude. This great organization creates care packages for service members, veterans and first responders.

Care Packages

By joining our Candy Give-Back event, you’ll help ensure that sweet treats are included in every care package Operation Gratitude ships out. Since 2003, the organization has delivered nearly 2.5 million care packages to people serving our country and local communities.  What type of candy do we take?  Anything that’s wrapped and left over from Halloween.  Snack size is great!

When you donate at our office, we will also have thank you notes for you to personalize and sign to show your appreciation to those who serve and protect all of us.  We are happy to make our candy collection an annual tradition, and we want to make donating convenient for you.

Candy Give-Back Location

Our family dental office is located at the corner of North Main Street and Stone Avenue, 644 N. Main Street, Suite 111, Greenville, South Carolina.  We have plenty of free, off-street parking in the lot and garage behind our building, so it’s easy to donate.

Your donations to our Candy Give-Back can be made during our regular business hours Saturday, November 2 – Tuesday, November 5.  Please call us, if you have any questions or would like to schedule an alternate donation time, 864-520-2942.

Thank you for your support!

Halloween Candy and Your Teeth

Halloween Candy and Your Teeth

With Halloween just around the corner, and lots of temptation all around us, let’s talk about Halloween candy and your teeth.  When it comes to your oral health, sweets in moderation are okay, as long as you also brush twice a day and floss before bed.

Tooth Decay

What you want to avoid is tooth decay that can lead to cavities or even tooth loss.  Bacteria in your mouth can cause decay.  And guess what? SUGAR fuels the bacteria, and bacteria produces acid that eats away at your teeth.

Best and Worst Candy

The worst candy for your teeth are those sticky ones.  Think about taffy, caramels and anything else that really hangs on to your teeth.  Candy that dissolves quickly and doesn’t get wedged between teeth is better because it doesn’t stick around for bacteria to grab hold to.
Of course, it’s not just about decay.  Hard candy can be a problem if it just breaks your teeth or dental work.

Enjoy the Holiday

Enjoying Halloween candy on October 31 and in the days before and after the holiday is something most of us enjoy and look forward to, especially the kids.  So, have fun and enjoy life, just remember to brush and floss, and visit the dentist twice a year for professional cleanings and checkups.
The goal is to form healthy habits taking care of your teeth, and helping kids do the same.  If you do that, you can enjoy those sweet treats.
